Weekend Update

Finally a weekend that had two beautiful days, yay!! Our weekend started beautifully with great music (Matthew West) and almost ended with a bang.
Saturday our friends Mike and Jim came over to do some electrical work. Each kid got new electrical plug-ins in their rooms. Joe only had one outlet in his room and it was becoming reminiscent of the Christmas tree outlet in the movie A Christmas Story. Now they each have three, pretty fancy for rednecks. They also brought new carpet ( new to us) to put in Joe's room, which will be a project for when the weather turns. If that wasn't exciting enough...Jim cleaned my kitchen! It was so cute, Jim looked at me and said "please don't be offended, but this is something that needs to be done." He kicked me out and proceeded to take apart the ceiling fan and wash it, along with the stove and back splash, some nasty gunk off the ceiling I've just became accustomed not looking up at and the front of my dishwasher. It was a dream come true! No, I'm serious...dream come true. I hate cleaning and can always find the time to do something else like pick my nose or can more freakin' salsa. Jim loves cleaning and does it for a living. (Insert shameless plug for my friend here...if you live in the area and ever need someone to help you out, he does fabulous work and he actually likes it...freak.)
In the afternoon I shipped Payton off at a fellow 4-Her's home to help work on the scary trail for our Halloween party this coming Saturday. 3 hours later we donned our eating pants, picked up Payton and headed over to the Korhonen's for supper. Liz made a fab lasagna dinner for us all. Us old people sat on the couch moaning and trying not to fall asleep the rest of the evening while Payton, Joe and Tyler laughed at us and played Nintendo. I think we made it home and to bed by 11. Woo! Do the Larson's know how to rock a Saturday night or what!?!
The kids skipped Sunday School in the morning. Payton decided to go with my folks to visit Great-Grandma Karczynski and Joe took advantage of the free morning by sleeping in. Neil continued work on the house. He has all the siding up now on the front of the house and just has to finish some trim work. We've decided to wait to paint and finish the rest of the siding until spring. Right now the house is several different colors, I look forward to narrowing it down to just a few. I spent most of the day catching up on more cleaning and cooking. In the afternoon I did something that I never thought I would. No, not finally organize the tornadic disaster referred to as my computer desk, I went deer hunting. Wisconsin had a special 4 day gun hunt to weed out some of the does. I decided I would try my hand at this hunting thing. I figured I'd try getting one now while it's still warm as opposed to the usually cold weather we have at the end of November. The first 1 1/2 hours wasn't too bad. The colors were beautiful, birds were singing and the pheasants entertained me by allowing me to use them for target practice. (I'm still not used to this gun which is a Mauser? put together by Neil's Grandfather Theodore who is no longer with us. So I wasted a lot of time quickly trying to sight things in and pretending to shoot like it were a real deer situation. Oh, yeah I'm cool.) Well after that Lisa started getting a little ancy. Where were all the stupid deer?? Needless to say the next hour dragged on and I never saw one stinking deer. There was however about 15 minutes of excitement when I heard a crash in the little swamp to my right, but no deer came out...just a blue jay. I guess I'll have to go out in November after all.
