Neil, Payton and myself had the pleasure of attending a Matthew West concert last night in Amery. Yes, Amery of all places. For those of you not familiar with Matthew West, let me explain. He is a pretty big name in the Christian Rock music world and I would never have expected to have him be in the little town of Amery, WI...ever!! But he was and we got to see him for free, along with Neil's two sisters, Gretchen and Carrie and our niece Allison. He was brought here as part of a benefit for The Heart of David which was started by parents of a young man killed in a drunk driving accident. Originally tickets were $20/piece but do to low ticket sales the concert was cancelled because his $8,000 fee wasn't met. Well, a few days before the concert Matthew called and said he was coming anyway and he would waive his fee. How cool is that?? There was a freewill donation and all proceeds went towards The Heart of David. The music was fabulous, the house was packed and all in all it was quite a heart-warming experience. I can't say enough about the graciousness of Matthew and opening act Josh Wilson (who was also a great performer). We stayed afterwards to say hey and thank you (Payton got her CD signed by Josh), they were both very kind and humbled by the outpouring of thankfulness. What two great men whose music ministries will hopefully continued to be blessed for a long while, support the guys...they are worth every penny spent.

Rockin' in Amery
