7:30 a.m. Heard one of the kids downstairs. Remembered Payton was going over to Mem
a's (my mom) to say goodbye to a kitten. Rolled over and went back to sleep.8:50 Officially woke up. Was surprised to see it was that late, although this is honestly the time I usually get up, I was expecting to see 8:15 and was disappointed that I needed to start the day. Moaned and whined a little. Did morning prayers. (This sometimes involves dozing off again.)
9:10 Finally rolled out of bed. Walked to computer and checked email and picked a BrainPop video for Joe to watch later.
9:30 Made breakfast; fried egg, blueberry popover, mango and coffee which Payton usually has ready for me. Took clothes out of the dryer and started new load. While eating, listened to Joe read to me out of his Nature Reader. Corrected some of Payton's math.
10-11 Went over incorrect math problems w/Payton. Decided to exercise. Yoga yesterday, cardio (yuck) and weights today. I pushed it today, gotta get those legs in shape for snowboarding!! Ow!! Listened to Joe play piano while working out. Shower. Went over spelling with Joe, great cursive! Helped and possibly freaked out on Payton a little while correcting her language arts (note to self...better pray for that patience thing again). More clothes into dryer and washer, folded some. (I hate folding clothes.) Went on a fly killing rampage.
12-1 Whined about my now weak legs and arms from lifting those stupid weights, gonna be sore tomorrow!! Help both kids with their math, correct Joe's. Went over LLATL (language arts curriculum) with Joe. Got and looked through mail, hmmm...how much junk mail can a person get in a day?? Watered plants. Ordered books for school online through MORE. More darn laundry.
1-2 Lunch (tortellini soup, yummy). Watched National Geographic video about elephants. I'm happy because I get to snuzzle under a warm blankie after eating to finish watching the video. Decide we're freezing and turn the heat up.
2-4 History. Read about Alexandria (city founded by Alexander the Great) and the Pharos which is the Third Wonder of the Ancient World. Asked questions. Kids worked on note booking (this involves drawing a picture and writing what they learned about. We put it all into a 3 ring binder), and played the Alexander the Great game. I layed back on couch (mmm sweet, warm blankie) and read a few articles aloud out of the Greek News while they colored. Closed my eyes for about 15 min. while they played the game. Kids started getting ready for chores. Kelly called and I chatted with her for about 10 min. Drove kids to mom and dad's for chores.
4-6 Walked across the road and looked for lost cat, no luck. Washed, cut up and put peppers in the dehydrator (took about an hour). Didn't wear gloves again and got hot pepper oil in my ear and around my mouth. Ouch!! Better than yesterday, that was in my nose...don't ask. Started supper (veal parmigiana) when Neil got home at 5. Talked to husband for awhile and gave him a few jobs to do. More clothes to attend to, consider joining nudist colony.
600-630 Finished supper, cleared table.
630-7 Ate supper and watched Wheel of Fortune (every night).
7-845 Played Quirkle and Boggle with Neil and kids. Joe won Quirkle and I won Boggle. Sent Neil to bed.
845-915 Got kids going on bedtime chores. Kids into bed. Switched more clothes. Put dishes in dishwasher. Moved pepper trays around.
915 Everyone in bed. Came upstairs to write this. When I'm done I will check the dryer again and maybe fold more clothes, but I really just want to ignore them. I might veg on the couch a little and I usually head up to bed by 11 or 11:30. If I'm not quite tired yet I will read the bible a little and finally try to fall asleep sometime around midnight.
Well, there you have it, exciting stuff. Yesterday pretty much went the same. Only instead of driving the kids next door for chores, we walked through the swamp and woods to get there. Instead of dehydrating peppers, I dried apples. Tomorrow should be pretty much more the same. If it's nice out we may walk again through the swamp, Joe wants to climb the Tamarack tree again.
Here is a YouTube video that pretty much humorously sums up a typical mom's day. Click here to view.
